ART MEETS SCIENCE AND SPIRITUALITY IN A CHANGING ECONOMY

“Intuition tells us that creativity will become a key word in the near future. The initiative ‘Art meets Science and Spirituality in a changing Economy’ follows in the tradition of artist such as John Cage, Robert Rauschenberg, Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol, Robert Filliou and the many others who have devoted themselves to integrate creativity directly socially and economically instead of through works of art.” Louwrien Wijers.

The Zolder Museum is honored to invite you to join a 2 day screening event of Art meets science and spirituality in a changing economy to mark 22nd anniversary of this outstanding art-event made by the Dutch artist Louwrien Wijers. The screening consists of five one-hour videos, documenting each day of the event.

On 10th of September 1990 started a five-day symposium in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam called Art meets Science and Spirituality in a changing Economy. In words of Louwrien Wijers, the encounter was meant to provide the audience with an opportunity to receive a direct transmission of the ideasfrom the great living masters of our time in the fields of art, science, spirituality and economy. In this way all persons in the audience could actively assume the responsibility of preserving the collectively formulated cultural policy framework and share their views in turn with others.

Each day there was a panel of 4 people representing art (Robert Rauschenberg, John Cage, J.C.J. van der Heijden, Lawrence Weiner, Marina Abramovic), science (David Bohm, Ilya Prigogine, Francesco Varela, Rupert Sheldrake, Fritjof Capra), spirituality (Dalai Lama, Huston Smith, Mother Tessa Bielecki, Sogyal Rimpoche, Raimon Pannikar) and economy (Stanislav Menshikov, F. Wilhelm Christians, J.M. Pinheiro Neto, Jean-Maxime Leveque, H.J. Witteveen).

Since the number of visitors is limited we kindly ask you to confirm your attendance.

We welcome your presence
